CPAA CODE OF CONDUCT

ConneXus Performing Arts Association, Inc. (CPAA) has established this Code of Conduct for everyone involved in any aspect of CPAA including without limitation ConneXus Percussion and ConneXion.  Participants, staff and volunteers are expected to adhere to this code of conduct.

Definitions:

Participant: A person who is performing with ConneXus

Staff: A person who is engaged in an instructional or administrative capacity

Volunteer: A person who gives of their time freely to provide support in any capacity

CPAA: ConneXus Performing Arts Association, Inc.

WGI: Winter Guard International

CPAA will not tolerate conduct that impacts negatively on the organization or the experience of everyone involved. All participants, staff, and volunteers are representatives of CPAA. Further, CPAA reserves the right to discipline, discharge or suspend participants, staff or volunteer who engage in or is alleged to have engaged in unlawful activity to the extent consistent with applicable law.

 

MISCONDUCT

CPAA strictly prohibits all conduct which could pose a threat to the safety of others. If any participant, staff or volunteer receives information of any kind (oral or written, “informal” or “formal”) suggesting that misconduct has occurred that is connected in any way to individuals or activities associated with CPAA, and if the suggested misconduct meets any of the following criteria, then that person(s) shall inform CPAA and/or WGI of the information in writing immediately: 

  • Any misconduct of a sexual nature or potentially classifiable as a sex offense under applicable law, including without limitation so-called “victimless” activities such as prostitution, pornography, and indecent exposure.
  • Any misconduct in which actual or suggested sexual relations is an element.
  • Any harassing conduct pertaining to, in whole or in part, an individual’s sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender expression.
  • Repeated unwanted sexual flirtations, advances, or propositions
  • Verbal abuse of a sexual nature
  • Verbal comments about an individual’s body
  • Sexually degrading words used to describe an individual
  • Unwanted physical contact
  • Any conduct involving harm to a minor.
  • Cyber-bullying or social media abuse
  • Any other behavior that is not socially acceptable in a professional environment

CPAA shall maintain effective internal policies and procedures for the protection and safety of its participants, staff, and volunteers, including without limitation the ability of any individual to report suspected misconduct without reprisal. CPAA shall conduct an effective internal investigation, report the matter to the appropriate external authorities as may be necessary, and take appropriate and effective remedial action under the circumstances. Anyone found to have participated in misconduct that threatens the safety of a participant, staff or volunteer will be disciplined as CPAA finds appropriate, up to and including a permanent ban from association with CPAA in any capacity.

 

REPORTING POLICY

ConneXus Performing Arts Association, Inc. (CPAA) strictly prohibits all conduct which could pose a threat to the safety of others. This policy sets forth CPAA’s expectation that all individuals associated with CPAA sanctioned activities including but not limited to ConneXus Percussion and ConneXion events shall report certain kinds of misconduct without exception.

WHO IS COVERED BY THIS POLICY? Everyone associated with CPAA is covered by this policy, including without limitation all CPAA Participants, Staff, and Volunteers.

WHAT IS EXPECTED UNDER THIS POLICY? Anyone who is the victim of violations or receives information of any kind (oral or written, “informal” or “formal”) suggesting that misconduct related to participant, staff or volunteer safety has occurred that is connected in any way to individuals or activities associated with CPAA must report the matter immediately to CPAA and/or WGI management listed below. A report to an appropriate law enforcement agency may also be warranted and is always available, in the discretion of a victim or person who receives information regarding potential misconduct. 

  • Any misconduct of a sexual nature or potentially classifiable as a sex offense under applicable law, including without limitation so-called “victimless” activities such as prostitution, pornography, and indecent exposure.
  • Any misconduct in which actual or suggested sexual relations is an element.
  • Any harassing conduct pertaining to, in whole or in part, an individual’s sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender expression.
  • Repeated unwanted sexual flirtations, advances, or propositions
  • Verbal abuse of a sexual nature
  • Verbal comments about an individual’s body
  • Sexually degrading words used to describe an individual
  • Unwanted physical contact
  • Any conduct involving harm to a minor.

WHAT ACTION WILL BE TAKEN? Upon receiving a report of any such misconduct, CPAA and/or WGI shall conduct an effective internal investigation, report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities as may be necessary, and take appropriate and effective remedial action under the circumstances.

Anyone found to have participated in misconduct that threatens the safety of a participant, staff or volunteer will be disciplined as CPAA and/or WGI finds appropriate. CPAA and WGI will not retaliate against anyone for reporting suspected misconduct or for participating in an investigation or inquiry, and will not tolerate retaliation by any person or entity.
